The Indian Super League is on in full swing and North East United FC have had a difficult run losing 4 consecutive games, however the team registered their first win of the year stunning one of the favourites FC Goa. NEUFC seem to have been plagued by poor luck in recent matches and with the sacking of their previous coach Joao de Deus, new head coach Avram Grant seemed to have stirred up something in the team to win 2-1 at home.

The first goal came in the 21st minute when Marcinho scored a brilliant goal but Goa soon equalized. The Highlanders took back the lead in the 52nd second through Len Doungel. This was the first goal scored by the young Northeastern player in the ISL.

What is most optimistic about yesterday's match is the goals that came along. Northeast have found it difficult to find the back of the net in previous matches with last night's match seeing the first goal at home for the Highlanders. Has the tide turned for the team? This is yet to be determined but fans across the Northeast will hope that this is the beginning of winning ways.

NEUFC are still 7th on the table with just Delhi Dynamos below them but they are closer to teams above them on the table with just a point standing between them and Kerala Blasters.
