Facts about Yamin Hazarika, the first lady IPS officer from Assam

 |

Sanjukta Parashar is not the first and only Assamese lady IPS officer. In contrast to the claims made by almost all leading news agencies of the country, a reliable source claimed that Mrs. Yamin Hazarika of 1977 IPS batch was the first Assamese lady IPS Officer.

Although the misconception has already been cleared by ScoopWhoop, we decided to dig deeper into the matter and here's all we could unearthen.

Born to Mohammad Sirajul Hussain Hazarika of Jorhat town of Assam, Yamin Hazarika hails from the Rupohi Ali locality. Sources confirmed that she had two younger sisters, one of them a former model and the other a hotel management graduate.

After completing her +12, she moved to the country capital and got herself a BA degree from the prestigious IP College, New Delhi. After graduation, she opted for a career in the constabulary and started off a 1977 batch DANIPS (Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands) officer.
