SHILLONG: The state's exchequer is augmented by Rs 3, 53, 000 only during the month of October and November. Thanks to the 'Drinkers' and the 'Sound polluters'!!!
During the monthly raid conducted by the Shillong Traffic Police in the month of October and November, as many as 126 persons were picked up by the Police for drinking in public places and creating nuisance.
They were arrested and forwarded to Court which realized a total fine of Rs. 3,53,000. Maximum number of detection was done by Sadar PS.
Issuing strict notices to the public in the run to Christmas and New Year celebration, the District Police will step up their vigil against such nuisance.
Meanwhile, in another case of creating nuisance at Bara Pathar on December 13, three persons–Tilak Chettri (35yrs), Bishnu Kumar Dorjee (27yrs), Raj Biswa (30yrs) were picked up by the police.
Tilak Chettri was sentence to 1 (one) Month Single Imprisonment by the Court of R.M. Kharsyntiew as he is a habitual trouble monger.
