Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta appointed as new DGP incharge of Assam

GUWAHATI | November 30, 2019:
IPS officer Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) in-charge of Assam.
As per notification issued by the home department of Assam government on Friday stated that Mahanta is allowed to look after the current duties of DGP, Assam.

Mahanta, a 1988 batch IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is presently serving as the Special DGP (Border).
Meanwhile, Assam government has recommended the names of four senior IPS officers to the UPSC for selection.
