Assam’s Mobile theater industry gets due recognition; Artists, writers and personalities awarded

Dalmia Bharat Cement organized the 2nd edition of Udyaman Bhraymaman, Mobile Theatre Awards on June 20, 2018 at Pragjyoti ITA Machkhowa, Guwahati.

Speaking about the event, Sunil Aggarwal, Head Sales and Marketing, Dalmia Bharat Cement said, "We are glad to be organizing the 2nd edition of Udyaman Bhraymaman after the success of last years' program. Dalmia Bharat Cement has been recognizing the effort and talent of people from various fields including art and drama for a long time now, but a specific award ceremony for the huge Mobile Theatre industry of Assam is a must."

This year the awards were presented for 29 different categories which included the Late Aditi Sharma Life Time Achievement Award to writer Hemanta Dutta. Also a special Young Achievers Award on bravery was presented posthumously to Raul Kaushik Nath, which was received by his father.

Best Actor award was bagged by Jatin Bora for Kaka Deuta Nati Aru Hati of Surya Theatre; Prastuti Parashar received the Best Actress award for Samragee of Abahan Theatre; Moye Maar Suwali of Abahan Theatre won the Best Popular Drama; Rajtilak won the Best Theatre Team and the Best Popular Theatre Group award was bagged by Kohinoor. Sudarshan Theatre won the Upcoming Theatre award and Pragjyotish Theatre was presented an award for being one of the few theatre groups that originated from Guwahati and has been doing well since the past 34 years.

Other winners included Golak Saha (Best Art Director) of Rajmukut; Saratar Subhash (Best Dance Drama) of Bhagyadevi; Raju Simina (Best Sound Designer) of Surya; Ashok Das (Best Light Designer) of Rajmukut; Jolly Borah (Best Choreographer) of Hengool, Abahan, Chiranjeev, Rajmukut; Parikshit Kalita for the song Bhal Lage Mur (Best Lyrics) of Hengool; Tarali Sharma for the song Samragee (Best Music Director – Background) of Abahan; Zubeen Garg for O Maa (RED FM Bajate Raho Best Singer – Playback) of Abahan; Kandarpa Rajbanshi (RED FM Bajate Raho Best Singer – Live) of Bordoisila; Shibabrata Sharma for Bhal Lage Mur (RED FM Bajate Raho Best Song) of Hengool; Rajkumar (Best Action Director) of Chiranjeeb; Mahesh Bora (Best Negative Role – Male) of Kohinoor; Anjali Chetry for Dadagiri (Best Negative Role – Female) of Surya; Simanta Madhav Dutta (Best Comedian) of Abahan; Biplab Saikia (Best Debut – Male) of Hengool; Sukanya Rajguru (Best Debut – Female) of Bhagyadevi; Chinmay Kataky (Best Supporting Actor) of Brindaban; Sumi Das (Best Supporting Actress) of Surya; Abhijit Bhattacharya for Samragee (Best Script Writer) Abahan; Jatin Bora (Best Popular Actor) of Surya; Prastuti Parashar (Best Popular Actress) of Abahan; Siyor (Best Drama) of Kohinoor and Sankalpajit Hazarika for Boliya Droupadi (Best Director) of Hengool.

Apart from recognizing the contribution of all the people in the Mobile Theatre industry, Dalmia Bharat Cement paid tribute to Kalaguru Bishnu Prashad Rabha on the occasion of Rabha Diwas and also a minute of silence for Late Munin Baruah, Late Biju Phukan, Late Ratan Lahkar and Late Sukracharya Rabha.

The award ceremony was a grand success which saw a huge participation by the Mobile Theatre personalities, civil society members and many more. It may be noted that Dalmia Bharat Cement is the only brand which organised an award program exclusively for Mobile theater industry.
