GUWAHATI:

“If our government came to power in Assam we will work for flood-free Assam,” said Union Home Minister Amit Shah while addressing a public rally at Batadrava in Nagaon district in Assam on February 25.

Shah praised the BJP-led Assam Government's groundwork in the past five years and promised to solve the decade-old flood issues of the state if voted to power once again.

“The previous government failed to address the real issues plaguing the society, but after our government came into power in Assam in 2016, we worked for development,” Shah said.

Lambasting the Congress-AIUDF alliance, he said, “Can the Congress-AIUDF led-Badruddin Ajmal save Assam from infiltrators and other problems. We have to bring change under the leadership of Narendra Modi, and in the coming days we can solve the decade-old problems of Assam if the people voted for us again.”

Picking on the Congress he said, “I challenge the Congressmen to bring the report card of the last 15 years in Assam and what developmental work they have done.”

“In the last five years in Assam, our government under Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal have worked tirelessly to work in every aspect,” he added.

Shah’s visit to Assam comes two months ahead of the state assembly elections as part of a major BJP poll campaign after PM Modi’s visit.
