GUWAHATI:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in poll-bound Assam in the wee hours of Thursday to attend two socio-religious events and address public gatherings in Nagaon and Karbi Anglong districts.

This is Shah's third visit to Assam in less than a month.

Shah will visit Batadrava Than, the birthplace of Assam's "greatest" social reformer and Saint Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva.

He will join the Yagna of Maha Mrityunjay Temple at Puranigudam, and will then visit Karbi Anglong, where he will address another public meeting at Dengaon and meet the surrendered militants.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Shah posted the following tweet, "Leaving for Assam. Looking forward to addressing two public rallies in the beautiful state."
