DIBRUGARH:

The All Assam Trained Home Guard Association staged a protest demanding the regularisation of jobs, in Dibrugarh Assam, on Monday.

They also informed that they would observe a two-day cease work and non-cooperation from Monday.

“Regularising our jobs has been the long pending demand. If the government failed to regularise our jobs within the stipulated time, then we will boycott the upcoming assembly election,” said a member.

According to the association, there are around 12,000 Home Guard personnel under the Assam Government who are working for a meagre amount of Rs 9,000 per month in non provincialised posts.

“We urged the government to amend the present Assam Home Guard Act, 1947, to provincialise the employees. Our other demands are an increase in the retirement age of the Home Guard from 55 to 60 years, pension facilities and up-gradation of the Home Guard Digital Deployment system,” said another protester.
