DIBRUGARH:

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that terrorism and insurgency have declined in Assam after the continuous process of the government’s intervention.

Addressing the rally at Biswanath, Singh said, “Peace has returned to Assam after many insurgent groups are laying down their arms in the last five years of the BJP rule in the state under Sarbananda Sonowal.”

“After our government was formed in Assam, we have started an all round development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Our party has worked hard for the development of the state. If BJP is voted into power in Assam, development will run faster,” Singh added.

Singh was campaigning for sitting Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Pramod Borthakur, who will have a direct contest with Congress nominee Anjan Borah for Biswanath seat.

“The condition in Assam has improved a lot and the BJP government has solved a major portion of the Indo-Bangladesh border and installed electronic surveillance along the riverine stretch,” Singh said.
