While addressing reporters, Phukan said such awareness campaigns would help people realise the importance of obeying traffic rules.

“Women of our society can play a key role to enforce their family members to obey the traffic rules for the safety of the family. We hope today’s bike rally sends a message to the society to follow the traffic rules strictly for their safety,” SP Prateek Vijay Thube said.

“Over 1.50 lacs people lost their lives and about four lakh people get injured in road accidents in a year in India. We appeal people to follow the traffic rules for their safety and the safety of others,” DTO Sanjiv Hazarika said.
