Modi slams previous government for not doing anything for the North bank. "Rs 3,000 crore projects launched is a gift to the people of Assam today. Projects will lead to progress and create jobs. Our govt has reached out to areas where progress was not seen," he says.

"The first Assamese film Joymati was shot here... Cultural developments have taken place. The earlier governments treated the North bank of Assam in a step motherly way. But the Sonowal-led government changed it all. Bogibeel Bridge, Broad gauge, Second bridge in Kolibhomora will boost connectivity. Last month, Mahabahu launch will trigger development here," says Modi.

"My good fortune that I could come to Dhemaji for (the) third time. (The) love of the people inspires me to come to Assam frequently," says Modi.

"We have to admit that during the term of the Congress, the north bank of Assam was neglected. But PM Modi has changed that. With schemes and projects in communication sector including tracks and bridges, and the education sector pushing the growth momentum in Assam," says Sonowal.
