Only ‘double engine’ Govt can give stable, all-round development for Assam: PM Modi

Only a ‘double engine’ government can give stable and all-round development for Assam, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a poll rally in Tinsukia, Assam, on Saturday.

“Only a double engine government can give a stable government in Assam. In (the) last five years, the double engine government has done lots of development in Assam. For the tea workers, we are going to open high schools and many more,” Modi said.

The PM also alleged the Congress government for giving fake promises to the people of Assam.

“Congress has done an alliance with those who want to destroy Assam. They are a threat to the language, history and culture of Assam. No one can give a stable government in Assam except us because Assam had a great history,” Modi said.

“If Chaiwala does not understand your problem, then who will. (The) NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government led by the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is committed to working for the people of Assam. We want to create a congenial atmosphere for the industries in Assam,” he said.

He also stated that “Congress is shrinking because of their own wrong decision. They have exploited the tea community people for decades. After our government formed in Assam, we have committed to work for the development of the people.”

“They have done nothing for the development of waterways in Assam. Earlier, waterways were a strength in Assam because many things were taken through waterways, but the Congress party has done nothing for the development of waterways in their tenure,” he added.
