Shillong: The Inter-State Border Coordination of the two neighbouring states of Meghalaya and Assam on Friday held a discussion at MeECL Byrnihat Ri-Bhoi District.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi District, R.M Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills, T. Lyngwa, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup District (Rural) Kailash Kartik IAS among other top officials.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss matters relating with the forthcoming election of Assam to be held in April and also to ensure peace, tranquillity and harmony along the inter-state border areas during the election.
In the meeting, both the governments also decided to conduct joint patrolling by police personnel with an aim to prevent inter-state border criminal activities.
It was also decided to discuss and inform both parties (states) before taking up any developmental projects in the border and disputed areas, and no unilateral action must be taken along the border that could vitiate peace or create misunderstanding.
The District Administration of all the three districts have decided to work together, to support and coordinate for the welfare of the people living in the border areas.
