IIT Guwahati, NEIST ink MoU for advanced research in NE

GUWAHATI

IIT Guwahati and CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Jorhat on Tuesday, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), to collaboratively work on training programmes in Northeast India.

The joint venture by CSIR-NEIST plans to carry out advanced research in the areas of disaster management and water resources in the region.

"The institutes would jointly organise training programmes for teachers from the North East to promote the dissemination of science through online courses and interaction from the next academic year," said IIT Guwahati director T. G. Sitharam.

CSIR-NEIST director Narahari Sastry also expressed keen interest in offering a course on the application of machine learning in science and work on joint research projects in areas of bio-resources and chemistry.
