GUWAHATI:

A 16-year-old son of former Rajya Sabha MP and BJP leader, Biswajit Daimary is believed to have gone “missing” from Kokrajhar with police operations underway to trace him since Tuesday afternoon.

Amitraj Daimary, a Class X student of Reality Public School in Kokrajhar, was a boarder at the school and reportedly “told his friends he wished to go to Guwahati”.

Speaking to the media, the former MP who had quit Bodoland People's Front (BPF) to join the BJP in November last year before the BTC elections, said, “At this age, boys who stay in hostels can get restless for more freedom which they do not find in either a hostel or home.”

Daimary, however, ruled out the possibility of abduction or the “incident” having any link with his joining BJP.

Meanwhile, Kokrajhar police told the media they are reaching out to their counterparts in Guwahati and Delhi to trace the boy.

Further details of the investigation are awaited.
