ECI announces dates for Assam Assembly elections

GUWAHATI:

The Election Commission of India (ECI), on Friday, announced the schedule for the assembly polls in Assam.

They will hold the polls for 126 seats in Assam, and Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that they will hold the polls in three phases.

“In the first phase for 47 assembly segment, the polls will be on March 27, followed by the 2nd phase for 39 constituency on April 1 and the third phase for 40 seats on April 6,” Arora said.

The counting of votes will be on May 2, he added.

The ECI made the announcement during a press conference at 4:30 pm.
