Drugs worth over ₹ 60 lakh seized in Assam

Karbi Anglong police on March 8 detained a vehicle and recovered 40 soap cases packed with suspected heroin.

According to sources, the police tried to stop a car at around 10 pm, which sped away towards Manja instead of stopping. Later the car, an EcoSport, was found abandoned at Hojainala.

On searching the vehicle, police officials found 40 soap cases which were packed with suspected heroin weighing 492 grams with a market value of ₹ 60 lakh.

The contraband was taken into custody in the morning by Deputy Superintendent of police, APS, Nahid Karishma in presence of OC, Manja Police Station, Jitumoni Deka.

It is suspected that the contraband was brought from Manipur.
