Dates for Assam Assembly Elections will be announced in March, says Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) will probably announce the dates for the Assam Assembly elections in the first week of March.

Besides this, Modi virtually inaugurated three major projects in the oil sector in Assam and the Dhemaji Engineering college.

He also laid the foundation stone for Sualkuchi Engineering college.

The projects to be dedicated to the nation from Dhemaji include the INDMAX Unit at Indian Oil’s Bongaigaon Refinery, Oil India Limited’s Secondary Tank Farm at Madhuban, Dibrugarh and Gas Compressor Station at Hebeda Village, Makum, Tinsukia.

While addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, “Our government that works with the motto of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas has led to the rapid development of Assam”.

Modi also criticised the previous Congress government for “not doing anything for the people of Assam.”

“The previous government had shown a step-motherly attitude for Assam. After our government came into power, we have launched several developmental schemes and work to strengthen the communication sector of Assam. We have built several bridges and several major roads projects in Assam and Northeast to develop Infrastructure development of Assam,” he said.

“Dhemaji Engineering College is the first engineering college in the North bank which was ignored by the previous government,” he added.

Modi also claimed that the motto of his government is to empower the Northeast as a new engine for India’s growth.
