GUWAHATI:

Just weeks before the first phase of the Assam assembly polls kicks off, the BJP has finalised the seat-sharing formula, party sources informed.

The BJP will be contesting in 92 out of 126 seats while its allies -- Asom Gana Parishad and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) will contest in 26 and 8 seats respectively.

"One small party will merge with the BJP and one or two candidates of that party will be given the BJP symbol," sources said.

So far, 84 BJP candidates have been finalised for Assam.

Sources informed that the alliance seats and names of the candidates will likely be announced on Friday evening.
