GUWAHATI:

Assam’s Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia on Thursday urged Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to issue orders for the resumption of local train services in the state.

The senior Congress leader said that he had earlier written to the Railway Minister in October last year for the resumption of local train services, but no action was taken in this regard.

Commuters are facing immense hardship as no local trains are plying in the state, the Leader of Opposition said.

The worst affected persons are small traders, vendors and also employees who travel daily to their workplaces, he added.
