Assam repatriated nineteen Myanmar nationals to their country through the international border at Moreh in Manipur on Thursday after their release from Silchar Central Jail earlier this year.
According to police sources in Cachar, the Myanmar nationals arrived at Imphal on Wednesday.
The repatriated foreigners include Sundarlal (25), Sanjay (20), Jay Kumar (23), Rambokan (22), Dharmendar (29), Anni Kumar (29), Raj Kumar (30), Mani Lal (24), Jay Shankar (29), Thura (20), Kanai Lal (30), Daya Chand (30), Anil Kumar (22), Sunil Kumar (25), Ajay Kumar (25), Dinesh (25) Kanhaiya Lal (24), Sanjay Kumar (30) and Sanjay Rabidas (26).
Sources said the foreigners had entered India without valid documents and had worked in a factory in Uttar Pradesh.
However, police arrested them after finding out that they had entered the country without valid documents.
Police later produced them before a court which sentenced them to four months’ imprisonment at Silchar Central Jail. After their imprisonment ended in September, they stayed at a detention camp on the jail premises.
The Central Government informed the Myanmar government of the matter, following which it agreed to take them back.
