Assam receives second consignment of COVID-19 vaccine

GUWAHATI:

Assam on January 13 received the second consignment of COVID-19 vaccine with 12,000 doses of ‘Covaxin’ transported from Hyderabad, officials said.

“The consignment was shipped by Bharat Biotech and handed over to state government officials within six minutes of its arrival,” PTI quoted the Airport Authority of India (AAI).

The first batch of the COVID-19 vaccines reached the Northeast on January 12.

The government will launch the coronavirus vaccination programme on January 16, giving priority to the healthcare and frontline workers.
