Assam Police arrest five suspects for cyber fraud

GUWAHATI:

Assam Police arrested five prime suspects in connection with two cases, registered at Rangia police station in Kamrup district concerning illegal online siphoning of money.

“In a successful operation in Kampur and Jamunamukh last night, a team from Kamrup police raided and apprehended the five prime suspects in connection with Rangia police station case (number 895/20 under sections 420/379 IPC and Rangia police station case (number 944/20 under sections 420/379 IPC read with Sections 66C/66D of IT Act,” a statement issued by Assam Police on Sunday said.

Police identified the suspects as Fayaj Ahmed (20), Syed Ahmed Laskar (28), Guljar Ahmed Laskar (30) and Toimuj Ali Laskar (26) from Bakulguri village, Padumani under Kampur police station in Nagaon district, and Rashid Ahmed Barbhuyan (29) from Nagayapam village under Jamunamukh police station in Nagaon district.

Police also seized an HP Laptop, Epson Printer, one vehicle (Maruti Brezza), Rs 25,000, a rubber stamp, fake voter cards, fake PAN cards, eight mobile handsets, ATM cards, and incriminating documents.
