Assam: Minors charred to death in Kokrajhar fire mishap

GUWAHATI:

Two minors were charred to death at Nayanagar village in Kokrajhar district of Assam on Tuesday.

According to sources, Archina Kisku (4) and Moniram Hembram (5) were playing near their house when they accidentally caught fire from a nearby heap of dry jute around 11 am.

The family members and neighbours tried to douse the flames but could not rescue the children.

Sources said the bodies were sent for post mortem, and that an investigation will attempt to find out the cause of the fire.

On learning about the incident, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal took to his official Twitter handle and posted the following tweet, "Deeply anguished to learn about the fire at Kasugaon, Gossaigaon, which resulted in the death of two children- Arshina Kisku and Maniram Hembrom. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved parents and family members.”
