Assam man arrested for allegedly raping niece
GUWAHATI | SEPT 10, 2020:
A man identified as Riki Ahmed (a.k.a Bicky) was arrested for allegedly raping his 15-year-old niece several times in Assam's Dibrugarh.
Ahmed is a resident of Kawri Patty area of Naliapool and according to sources, Ahmed drugged his niece before raping her.
Police arrested Ahmed following an FIR filed by the family members of the victim who alleged that the accused raped the girl over 20 times.
They registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Child from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act.
"We arrested the accused two hours after they registered the case. We found circumstantial evidence that point towards his involvement. We have also confirmed that he raped the minor two times in the last 15 days," Prateek Thube, Superintendent of Police, Dibrugarh said.
"The case is being investigated further in fast-track mode," he added.
