Assam hospital gets the first-of-its-kind facility in NE

GUWAHATI:

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, on Friday, inaugurated a multi-surgery microscope, the first of its kind in the northeast, at Sui Ka Pha Hospital, Dimow in Sivasagar district.

A multi-surgery microscope helps in visualising small structures in significant detail.

The high-end ENT microscope is used for all micro ear surgeries, lateral skull base surgeries, microvascular surgeries with fluorescence imaging.

While addressing the gathering, Sonowal lauded the hospital management and urged the authorities to transform the hospital into a centre of excellence in South East Asia.

He also asked the hospital authorities for increasing the green coverage of the hospital campus.

Paying tributes to Swargadeo Sui Ka Pha, Sonowal termed him a champion of unity and harmony who came to Assam and established his kingdom, which ruled the state for nearly 600 years.

He also asked the hospital authorities to install a life-size statue of Sui Ka Pha at the entrance.

Touching upon some major achievements of his government in the state’s health sector, Sonowal said eight new medical colleges, 18 cancer hospitals, AIIMS in Guwahati and a record number of nursing institutes have been set up to make healthcare and health education accessible and affordable to the people of Assam.
