Assam Health Department gives a breather to Transport Association
The Assam government has allowed carrying 100 per cent passengers in public transport with terms and conditions laid down by the state.
The decision came after the Health and Family Welfare Department of Assam accepted the request of the Assam Motor Transport Association for allowing more passengers.
Earlier, only 50% capacity was allowed by the state government as per COVID-19 norms that resulted in a loss.
To ease the issue, the Health Department has laid some conditions on ferrying 100 per cent passengers such as wearing masks, availability of sanitiser in the vehicle and not carrying passengers more than the allowed seating capacity.
The motor transport association is likely to wind up the strike from Friday, October 9.
