Assam Guv forms committee to probe corruption charges against Dibrugarh University VC

DIBRUGARH:

Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi, on Tuesday, formed a fact-finding committee under the chairmanship of Preetom Saikia, Commissioner and Secretary, Government of Assam, to look into the allegations of financial irregularities against the vice-chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Ranjit Tamuli.

“The committee will investigate the various allegations and authenticate signature, handwriting, to examine documents, to interact with various persons concerned to ascertain facts and to do all necessary (as per law) to unearth facts,” stated an official notification.

Recently, the Dibrugarh University unit of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) staged a protest in front of the vice chancellor’s office at the university campus, alleging rampant financial irregularities by VC Ranjit Tamuli.

The student body accused Tamuli of being involved in gross financial irregularities and mismanagement of public funds by misusing his position.
