Assam Guv constitutes high-level inquiry committee to inquire into irregularities of Dibrugarh University

DIBRUGARH:

Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi cum Chancellor of Dibrugarh University constituted a high-level inquiry committee to inquire into the irregularities allegedly indulged by Prof. Ranjit Kumar Tamuli, Vice-Chancellor (since suspended) Dibrugarh University.

The three-member inquiry committee will be headed by former Judge, Gauhati High Court Dr Indira Shah as its Chairperson, with Prof. M.P. Bezbaruah, Department of Economics, Gauhati University as Member Secretary and Dilip Kumar Dutta, Senior Accounts Officer (Retd) of the Office of Principal Accountant General, Assam as its member.

The committee will inquire into the financial transaction and administration, allegation of corruption, indiscipline, misuse of funds including misuse of powers of the University in the last five years.

The Committee shall focus on the complaints received by the Governor from Dibrugarh University Teachers’ Association, Dibrugarh University Officers’ Association, Dibrugarh University Employees’ Association and MLA, Lahowal and the report of the two-member fact-finding committee constituted.

The Governor is also of the view that all aspects of management of Dibrugarh University especially financial matters spanning the last five years need to be brought within the purview of the inquiry.

It may be noted that based on the report from the fact-finding committee against Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University Prof. Ranjit Kumar Tamuli, Governor cum Chancellor, Dibrugarh University placed him under suspension and temporarily placed Prof. R. N. S. Yadav the senior-most professor of Dibrugarh University as its Vice-Chancellor.
