Assam Govt. unveils schemes to facilitate instant construction permits in Guwahati

GUWAHATI:

Residents of Guwahati metropolitan area can now avail instant construction permits for residential buildings up to the second floor and a plot area of up to two and a half Katha through the online mode under a new scheme.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal also unveiled a portal for granting no-objection certificates for selling land in the jurisdiction of Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).

The new scheme envisages allotment of construction permission to anyone with land possession as minimal as four lechas (576 square feet).

Dwelling on the geographical location and natural beauty of the city, Sonowal reiterated that the state government has been taking steps to make Guwahati one of the most beautiful cities in South East Asia.

Emphasising on segregating garbage at the source for a clean and green city, the chief minister urged residents to cooperate with the government in this regard.

Sonowal also requested the real estate developers and architects to promote and popularise the new scheme.

“Under ‘ease of doing business,’ the state government will soon constitute a high-power committee to implement the announcements made so far by the government,” he said.
