Assam Govt transfers ₹ 1 lakh each to 1487 landless family

Assam Government on February 26 transferred ₹ 1 lakh each to 1487 landless families of Laika village in Tinsukia district and Dodhia village in Dibrugarh district through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced on January 30 last during the 38th triennial conference of Asom Tribal Sangha at Nellie in Morigaon district regarding rehabilitation package that the state government disbursed ₹ 14.87 crore through DBT.

Sonowal has already constituted a high-powered committee with Forest and Environment Minister Parimal Suklabaidya as its Chairman to take necessary steps for the rehabilitation.

Chief Minister Sonowal had even asked the Revenue Department to assess the prevailing condition of the residents of Laika Dodhia from a humanitarian angle and design a rehabilitation package by encompassing drinking water, electricity, health, etc.

Sonowal also instructed the department to ensure that the new land for rehabilitation is not affected either by flood or erosion.
