Assam: Drug peddlers arrested in Guwahati

GUWAHATI:

Assam Police, on Monday, arrested four drug peddlers and seized vast quantities of drugs from their possession.

“Based on secret information, four drug peddlers Md Osman Khan (28), Ibrahim Khan (22), Sukur Ali (19) and Nazrul Islam (32), were apprehended at Railway Gate number 2 last night. We recovered 72 containers of drugs,” said a statement issued by Assam Police.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against the accused at Panbazar police station.

“During interrogation, the accused persons confessed to keeping more drugs in their house. Upon further raids, police recovered 309 stripes of Sempax and seven stripes of Nitravet from their possession. Further investigation is on,” the statement added.
