Assam cops arrest duo in IAF officer stabbing case

GUWAHATI:

Assam Police have arrested two suspects from Upper Assam’s Jorhat district in connection with the recent stabbing of an Indian Air Force officer.

The incident took place on December 13, 2020.

“In connection with the Dispur police station case number 3150/2020, two accused involved in Air Force officer stabbing case (have) been arrested today,” a statement from Assam Police said.

The accused, identified as Ronald Baruah and Reetiz Engti, were evicted from a pub on GS Road after a heated argument with the IAF officer and four of his companions, reportedly belonging to the defence forces.

However, the two accused waited outside for the IAF officer and his companions as they left the pub.

A scuffle broke out, and the officer was injured.

The officer was taken to a private hospital close to the site of the incident and treated for his injuries.

He was reported to be out of danger and stable.

The accused, Ronald hails from Titabor under Namchungi Police Station in Jorhat district while Reetiz belongs to Kakatigaon in the same district.
