NONGSTOIN:

Three girls from a village near Langpih in West Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya on February 7 alleged that they were "manhandled" by some Assam Police personnel.

The incident happened on February 7 around 6:00 pm while the girls were on their way to church.

Sources informed that while on their way, the girls met some Assam police personnel where it was alleged that one of the personnel started misbehaving with one of the girls.

The girl resisted and escaped by entering a nearby shop along with her friends, sources informed.

After some time when the girls continued their journey, the Assam police personnel allegedly chased them from behind but couldn't catch them.

On reaching home, the girls reported the matter to their relatives.

"Legal action on the matter is being taken as per law, and a detailed report on the matter will follow," police sources informed.
