Assam: Close to 1 lakh health workers inoculated in COVID-19 vaccine drive

Altogether, 99,514 healthcare workers received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Assam through 2,088 sessions.

There have been only 64 minor adverse events following immunisation (AEFI) cases reported till Monday and no serious/severe AEFI case.

Around 10,514 beneficiaries received the Covishield vaccine across 217 session sites on Monday, while they administered 790 beneficiaries Covaxin across 26 session sites.

“There have been a lot of rumours and speculations regarding the safety of the COVID vaccine, which is completely unsubstantiated. We have adequate data which proves that the vaccine is safe, reiterated by our renowned experts,” Padma Shri awardee and director of the Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Silchar, Dr Ravi Kannan said.

“Around 300 of our 360 healthcare workers in our hospital have been vaccinated, and no one has faced any problems till now,” he added.
