Assam CID team nab drug trafficker in Guwahati

GUWAHATI:

A team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police, conducted an operation and apprehended a drug trafficker on Wednesday afternoon, official sources said.

“The CID team, based on specific intelligence, conducted the operation in the Islampur area near Haji Musafir Khana and caught Majibur Rahman Mandal red-handed with a large consignment of methamphetamine tablets sold under WY (World is Yours) brand,” a statement said.

The consignment containing 30,000 methamphetamine tablets was seized from the apprehended drug trafficker who hails from Hatiputa village under Chapar police station of Dhubri district.

The market value of the seized tablets is around Rs 45 lakh.

A case was also registered at the CID police station.

“An autorickshaw on which the apprehended accused person was carrying the illegal consignment has also been seized by the CID team,” the statement added.
