DIBRUGARH:

The newly floated party Raijor Dal on March 6, said that they will contest in 18 constituencies in the ensuing Assam Assembly elections.

Chief convenor of Raijor Dal, Bhasco de Saikia, said the party has decided to contest in 18 constituencies to help the cause of ‘anti-BJP’ parties.

“We do not want the anti-BJP votes to be divided. Therefore, we decided to contest where we can surely win. We want an anti-BJP government and an anti-CAA government in Dispur, which is why we are leaving other seats out of 86 in two phases,” Saikia informed.

Raijor Dal, a regional political party, was launched on October 2, 2020, in Assam.

The party was formed after the massive anti-CAA stir in the state.

Jailed peasant leader Akhil Gogoi is the President of the party and is likely to contest from the Sivasagar seat.
