DIBRUGARH:

Tinsukia district Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Friday burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal against the skyrocketing price of petrol and diesel at GNB road in upper Assam Tinsukia district.

The activist raised various slogans against the government for failing to control price hikes of essential commodities.

The BJP government failed to curb the price rise of the essential commodities and petrol, diesel prices, Kon Gogoi, AJYCP (central committee), Vice president said.

The BJP government has committed to control the price hike of essential commodities but in the last five years they have failed to control it, Gogoi said.

The AJYCP demanded immediate rollback of the prices of petrol, diesel and other essential commodities.

“Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the people are already facing problems and the sudden price hike of fuel has created a hue and cry for the general masses. We demand immediate rollback of the prices of essential commodities," Gogoi said.
