Ahead of next year’s Assembly elections, the ruling BJP on Sunday embarked on its ambitious party programme, “Booth ki Baat”, across 28,000 booths in the state.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal took part as a karyakarta in his constituency booth in Dibrugarh.

“As a karyakarta, participated in Booth Ki Baat at my booth in Dibrugarh today. Deliberated on various aspects such as vote share, our preparation for ensuing elections and encouraged all karyakartas to further strengthen BJP’s base at the grassroots,” Sonowal tweeted.

Assam Cabinet minister and key strategist of the party in the Northeast, Himanta Biswa Sarma also took part at his home constituency in Jalukbari.

“Compliments to the BJP team for kick-starting Booth Ki Baat campaign across Assam’s 28,000 booths. Booth management is integral to electoral politics. We’ve remarkably dedicated karyakartas who master this art. Held a Booth Ki Baat at Amingaon in Jalukbari LAC,” Sarma said.

State party president Ranjeet Kumar Dass thanked all the booth presidents for making the programme successful in Assam.

They had scheduled the meeting from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the state BJP booths across Assam.

Dass had earlier directed all state, district and grassroots level leaders and activists to take part in the ‘Booth Ki Baat’ meeting.

“Each BJP worker will be present at his or her respective voting booth during the meeting, irrespective of the party or ministerial post one holds,” he had said.
