DIBRUGARH:

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Friday staged a sit-in demonstration in various parts of Assam protesting against the rising prices of essential commodities in the state.

The AASU activists, with posters and banners in their hands, protested against the BJP-led Sarbananda Sonowal government for "failing" to curb the sky-rocketing price of essential commodities in Assam.

“The BJP is running the government after collecting money from the capitalists. They have failed to control the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities and fuel. The common people are suffering because of the price rise. If the government cannot control the price rise then in the coming days, the government will get the result in the election,” said an AASU activist.

The Dibrugarh district unit and Tinsukia district unit of AASU also staged similar programmes in protest against the price rise of essential commodities.

“Due to the exorbitant price rise, the common people are having a tough time, but the government is not doing anything to control the price rise of the essential commodities,” said an activist of Dibrugarh AASU.
