70 organisations in Assam gear up for anti-CAA protests from December 24

GUWAHATI

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and its youth wing Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (CMSS) along its various umbrella organisations will start a statewide movement against the Citizenship Amendment Act from December 24.

Rudra Bhuyan, a senior member of CMSS said, “70 organisations will take part in the protest.”

Bhuyan also added that the protests will centre around the rural areas of Assam, including the demand to release the KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi.

According to sources, the All Assam Students Union (AASU) was not included in the list of the 70 participating organisations.

According to media reports, a member of AASU under condition of anonymity said, “All organisations will continue their awareness protest following protocols in different parts of Assam. Because of COVID-19, protests were stopped in between, but now as the situation is under control we will start our protests by January.”
