In an incident that has raised eyebrows pertaining to the security in Basistha's Ganeshnagar area, a woman was assaulted and robbed of lakhs of rupees.
A report in the Pratidin Time indicates that a group of youths assaulted an old woman and robbed her of almost Rs. 5 lakh and huge amount of jewellery. The incident took place at Handloom and textile's Additional Secretary Kanak Sendeka's residence.
According to reports, around 1:30 am on Saturday, a well planned group of burglars with weapons entered Sendeka's residence.
The group also robbed the secretary after tying him and his family members.
The group of burglars robbed a huge amount of money and jewellery, torturing the family for almost two hours and also threatened them with a pistol.
