Assam tourism draws flak from Zubeen Garg: “Why is Priyanka Chopra in Awesome Assam? “, he asks
January 6, 2019GUWAHATI: Assam tourism has been at the centre attraction since 2018- thanks to Priyanka Chopra being its ambassador, the state tourism has continued to receive flak from many people for not doing justice to the tourism potential of state.
And now, Assam's famous artist Zubeen Garg has blasted Assam Tourism and Assam Tourism brand ambassador Priyanka Chopra. Speaking at an event held in the Charaideo Mahotsav in Charaideo district of Assam, the singer blasted the whole Awesome Assam campaign.
A regional news website Guwahati Plus quoted Zubeen as saying, "I want to talk about Awesome Assam. I speak whatever I feel to be true. Why is Priyanka Chopra in Awesome Assam? Manipur, Kerala have a beautiful tourism theme, beautiful videos. How did Priyanka Chopra enter? She is not a rhino, tiger or a deer. She is not from here," said Zubeen.
Zubeen was clear that he had no issues with Priyanka Chopra but the way the videos and the promotion was done irritated him.
"I don't mind her, but only showing her is too much. Does Awesome Assam mean only Priyanka Chopra? Take her, but make it beautifully. I want to tell tourism Assam that what they have made is a G****A!" expressed Zubeen.
"The ad and everything around has only Priyanka Chopra. I am someone who is world's first to adopt a rhino. Priyanka has not adopted anything. No minister, MLA has done anything. They should give the department to us. Not asking for being a minister, but I dislike this wrongdoing. So, I speak out in open. A jingle runs and there is Awesome Assam, O Ma! Oh my God! I speak out when I am angry. Let her remain but focus should be on the wild animals and the wildlife. People should speak against bad things. The CM is like my brother so I will go talk to him," said Zubeen.
