Assam: Toll gate set on fire by KMSS

GUWAHATI: Hundreds of supporters of the peasant organisation Krishak Mukti Sangram Samitee (KMSS) attacked the Doholapara tollgate gate at Bijni in Chirang district claiming it to be illegal. Following the incident, tension prevailed in the area.
KMSS protesters and local people damaged the toll gate and attacked the money collectors. The toll gate was set on fire by angry protesters.
KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi had lashed out at the central government for allotting companies to collect tax from the National highways of Assam by establishing toll gates in various places of the state.
He also urged the people to demolish such gates.
