Assam: Tezpur University progress commended by MoS for Human Resource Development

Assam 07, 2017: The MoS for Human Resource Development Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, visited Tezpur University yesterday and interacted with faculty and students of the varsity.

He also visited the major facilities of the University and took stock of academic and other activities carried out by the students, research scholars and faculty members of the University, a press statement from the University said here today.

The Minister expressed satisfaction over the holistic approach of the University in the development of students, particularly in inculcating a sense of responsibility in them towards the society at large.

He also appreciated the University's initiatives in keeping the campus green and clean.

The Minister particularly mentioned the national and international recognitions such as the "Best University" Award 2016 of the Visitor (President of India) and the 34 th Rank in the Times Higher Education World Young University Ranking 2017.

Expressing optimism that it would be one of the top universities of the world in the near future, he assured all support from the Ministry.

"The outreach programmes of the University would go a long way as examples of meaningful contributions of educational institutions towards the development of the country," the Minister said.

The Registrar of the University apprised the Minister of the shortage of fund received by the University and placed a request before him for an additional grant of at least Rs 55 crore for creating initially two hostels one each for boys and girls to which the Minister assured that he would direct the UGC for consideration.
