ASSAM: Road accident at Nagaon kills two Forest Deptt employees

Nagaon, Jul 2: In yet another horrific road accident, two persons lost their lives in an accident in Assam's Nagaon district on Saturday morning when they were on way to attend a function.

Police sources informed that two forest department employees were on way to attend a Vanamahotsav function when the unfortunate incident took place. The two employees, Sunil Mandal and Pradip Sarkar, were travelling on a motorcycle when they were knocked down by a vehicle at Kuthari on National Highway-37, the police said.

Soon after the accident, local residents blocked NH-37 for several hours in protest against the incident and demanded that the highway be widened to a 4-lane one near Kaziranga National Park.

They also demanded an animal corridor along the road.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during his speech at the Vanamahotsav function condoled the death of the two forest personnel.
