Assam polls 2016: One dies in poll related violence

GUWAHATI: One person died and another one critically injured in poll related violence in Sarbhog constituency in Assam in the second phase of Assembly Election.

This incident occured in No. 94 Safakarama LP School polling centre after a fight between the supporters of various political party and Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) jawans deployed in the polling booth.

At around 11 am, a group of agitated supporters of various political parties started pelting stone at the CRPF jawans deployed there at the time of voting with an intention to disrupt the process. To take the situation under control the CRPF started lathi-charge.

It is reported that Abdul Rashid, an 80-year old man and a Congress supporter was critically injured in the lathi-charge of CRPF jawan. Though he was admitted to a nearby hospital he died after sometime. In this violence, another Congress supporter Abdul Mutalib has been critically injured.

Two CRPF jawans -Nobel Kishore and Amarjit Kumar have also been injured in the violence.
