Assam: HSLC answer scripts gutted in Jorhat
JORHAT: In a sensational incident, answer scripts of examinations for the High School Leaving Certificate were charred to ashes in Jorhat thus keeping lives of several students at stake.
The incident occurred at the Sankardev Senimari school in the district. However, what triggered the fire is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, Secondary Education Board of Assam Secretary Kamal Jyoti Gogoi left for Jorhat following a high level meeting convened at the SEBA office.
It may be mentioned, that 65000 answer scripts of Mathematics, Social Science and Bengali subjects of 12000 HSLC candidates were reduced to ashes. However, Education minister Sarat Barkataky has maintained a stoic silence over the matter.
Meanwhile, expressing concern over the incident Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi directed for a CID enquiry into the matter. He further directed the Jorhat Deputy Commissioner to submit a report with immediate effect.
