Assam: Govt to provide skill development training to over 30 thousand surrendered militants

GUWAHATI, Sept 11, 2017: In a positive move, the state government will empower as many as 30 thousand surrendered militants with the much needed skills to tread the journey of life the legal and lawful way.

According to News on Air, the Assam government will provide skill development training to 30 thousand surrendered militants. Participating in an AIR talk show tonight, Mission Director of Assam Skill Development, A P Tiwari said that training will also be given to jail inmates.

He said that another 24 thousand youths in Assam will be trained under the Prime Minister Kaushal Vikash Yojna. He said that the Assam Skill Development Mission will provide skill training in 40 sectors. Mr. Tiwari said that training will start by the end of this month.

He said that training centres will be set up at the Block level. Chief Project Manager of the Mission N Dhiraj Singha said that nine Centre of Excellence will also be set up in Assam adding that cost of the skill development training will be borne by the state and Centre.
