Assam | Former minister’s son accused of thrashing woman in hotel, surrenders


GUWAHATI | May 10, 2019:

Former minister of Assam Nurjamal Sarkar's son Nekibur Zaman, after remaining absconding for a day has reportedly surrendered before Basistha Police station.

Nekibur was accused of thrashing a female employee in Hatigaon, Assam.

Zaman, the Managing Director (MD) of Hotel Grand Majesty on Wednesday had allegedly thrashed an OYO employee in the hotel premises in Hatigaon area.

According to reports, a CCTV footage revealed that a female employee was dragged and thrashed by Zaman at around 10am on Monday.

Following the incident, an FIR was lodged by the the organization and the employee at around 5:30 pm.

A complaint has been filed under IPC sections 289 (negligent conduct), 448 (Punishment for house-trespass), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) at Hatigaon police station.
